Premier Andrew Furey has appointed a key figurehead at Memorial University to an executive position in government.
Dr. Rob Greenwood is the new Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Engagement, and Chief Economic Development Officer.
He most recently served as Memorial’s Associate Vice President (public engagement and external relations), and has done extensive work with the Harris Centre.
Government describes Greenwood as a “significant voice” in the province for many years, particularly on discussions around the sustainability of communities across the province.
The appointment is effective as of September 5.
