It has been a deadly weekend in the province with the loss of two young people as the result of two separate ATV crashes.
An 18-year old Ontario woman, who police say was not an experienced ATV driver, was fatally injured when the machine she was driving left the road near North Harbour late Saturday afternoon. The young woman died at the scene.
Both the driver and passenger of the ATV were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor responded to a similar call near Bishop’s Falls on the same day.
A 15-year-old girl was injured when the side-by-side in which she was a passenger left a path near the town. The girl succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
The driver and passenger of the side-by-side were not wearing seatbelts or helmets at the time of the crash.
