Parents frustrated with a lack of action on a much-needed high school for Paradise met last night to discuss their concerns.
Area MHA Paul Dinn called the meeting last night at Topsail United, sparked by government’s recent announced plans for a new high school for neighbouring Portugal Cove-St. Phillips.
Right now, some 1,500 Paradise high school students are bused out, either to Holy Spirit in CBS or Mount Pearl Senior High.
Dinn says the benefits to building a high school in one of the province’s most densely-populated and fastest-growing communities are many.
He says a local high school will create greater community, cultural, and sports opportunities, not to mention the academic and mental health benefits.
