The Department of Health is looking at ways to expand adult addiction treatment services in the province in light of a recent spike in overdose deaths.
Minister Tom Osborne says there are two adult drug treatment facilities in the province, with an average six-week assessment process for services at Humberwood.
Osborne says they’re looking at ways to reduce wait times and expand availability.
He says with the recent spike in drug-related incidents, they’re looking at ways to reduce the six-week assessment period.
In the meantime, Osborne says while capacity at the adult treatment services provided at Humberwood is over 90 per cent, there is capacity at Hope Valley which offers in-patient services to young people.
