The provincial forestry department says a major player in the local lumber industry has been convicted of four violations of the Forestry Act.
Sexton Lumber pleaded guilty to four counts in provincial court in Grand Falls-Windsor on August 1.
The charges included one count of failing to abide by an order of a forestry official and three counts of failing to comply with the terms and conditions of their cutting permits.
The company was fined $3,100 dollars, and an additional 30 per cent surcharge fee.
