Opposition health critic Paul Dinn says despite promises, the provincial government has failed to reduce the waitlist for hip and knee replacements.
Dinn says according to documents gained through Access to Information, the waitlist for hip and knee replacements was up to 3,100 as of April. By July, the list had only been knocked down to 3,089.
Dinn says efforts to reduce the surgical backlog have not seen the results needed for patients and families enduring lengthy wait times for surgery.
The health critic says focusing on recruitment and retention of health care professionals is key to improving access to care.
