The ministers of Justice and Health are expected to speak at a public rally organized by a grieving mother who just lost her son to overdose.
Tina Olivero has organized the rally this Wednesday at Confederation Building to draw attention to what she calls the province’s drug crisis.
Olivero’s 20-year-old son Ben passed away after apparently consuming cocaine laced with Fentanyl. His death was just one of a number of cocaine-related deaths in recent weeks.
Ruby, another mother who lost her son to addiction, told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly about the pain of watching a loved one struggling.
She says her son went through two separate open heart surgeries because his heart valve was damaged by drug use. He also suffered a stroke following an overdose, “then I buried him at 32 years old.”
Ruby is encouraging parents whose loved ones have been affected by addiction to gather at Confederation Building this Wednesday at 2:00.
