An Adjudication Tribunal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons has found a St. John’s-based psychiatrist guilty of professional misconduct.
The Tribunal released its written decision on a complaint filed against Dr. Jan Dolezalek back in February.
Dolezalek was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a former patient a short time after the treatment period ended.
Dolezalek pleaded guilty to professional misconduct in violation of the College’s Code of Ethics and was found deserving of sanction. The Tribunal found that Dolezalek failed to apply and maintain standards expected by the profession.
He’s been issued a reprimand, and his licence to practice medicine was suspended for a period of 10 months starting on October 30, 2022.
He was ordered to successfully complete a professional development course on the subject of ethics and professionalism approved by the College, before returning to practice.
