Officials are continuing to keep a close eye on Tropical Storm Franklin which is slowly churning northward and is expected to reach hurricane status on Sunday.

Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says the storm, which as of Tuesday was still south of the Dominican Republic, is something they’re watching.

While the storm will still be well south of the Atlantic provinces by the weekend, there is a possibility it could affect the region if it continues to track north and maintains hurricane strength.
