The Canadian Hurricane Centre says Tropical Storm Franklin could track close to southeastern Newfoundland mid-next week.
Franklin is expected to become a category-2 hurricane early next week and will track west of Bermuda.
According to forecasters, current data shows Franklin will move close to the province off the Grand Banks.
The Hurricane Centre says heavy rainfall is a likely probability, but the windiest part of the storm will not make landfall.
Officials will continue to provide updates on the system in the days ahead.
