A disbarred St. John’s lawyer is in trouble again, this time facing child pornography charges.
Michael Drover appeared in provincial court this week for a bail hearing.
He’s charged with making child pornography, unlawfully observing or making visual recordings of a person when nude or exposing genitals, breasts, and mischief by interfering with a person’s use of property.
He was released Thursday afternoon on numerous conditions.
Drover was disbarred and struck from the province’s roll of barristers in 2017 after the law society found he misappropriated more than $180,000 from three clients and used about $200,000 held in trust for two clients to pay invoices from his own firm.
Those incidents occurred between 2011 and 2014.
But he was also disciplined in 2007 and 2013 for failing to avoid conflict of interest between lawyer and a client, failing to protect his client’s property, failing to perform undertakings and failing to respond to the Law Society in a timely manner.
