Two men who RCMP allege were operating a drug-trafficking operation in Clarenville have been arrested and are facing charges as a result of an ongoing police investigation.
Searches were carried out at two homes, resulting in the combined seizure of 250 grams of cocaine, more than 30 grams of methamphetamine and over $11,000 in cash.
The two accused, 39-year-old Steven Smith and 36-year-old Mitchell Smith, were arrested by RCMP on Wednesday.
Both men are now facing charges of trafficking in cocaine, methamphetamine and prescription pills, as well as possession of the proceeds of crime.
They’re due back in court Friday morning for bail hearings.
Mitchell Smith is also facing separate charges of assault and forcible confinement.
He’s due back in court on those charges on Sept. 7.
