Legendary singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett has passed away at the age of 76.

Buffett’s official social media accounts shared that the singer passed away peacefully surrounded by family, friends, music and dogs, sharing that “he lived his life like a song till the very last breath.”

Best known for his easy-going music, Buffett penned such hits as “Margaritaville”, “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and “Hey Good Lookin'”.

The singer last visited the province in the fall of 2019.

Buffett also had a local connection to this province.

His grandfather, James Delaney Buffett, who was a huge influence on his life, was a sailor born Rose Blanche, later moving to Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.
