The approval of cannabis vape products helped the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation see double-digit growth in cannabis sales in the first quarter of the current fiscal yer.
NLC CEO Bruce Keating says despite more challenging marketing conditions on the alcohol side of the business, cannabis sales were up.
There was a 25.6 per cent increase in cannabis sales in the first quarter compared to the previous year. He says part of the reason for that was the decision made last fall to legalize vape cannabis projects.
In the meantime, Keating says high inflation affecting disposable income was behind the market challenges see on the alcohol side of the business.
