Labour Day activities are being held today across the province to celebrate workers and the efforts of the Labour movement in improving conditions in the workplace.
Celebrations are planned in a number of communities, including St. John’s, Corner Brook, Labrador West, and Grand Falls-Windsor.
NAPE President Jerry Earle will join workers in the capital city today for a special Labour Day celebration at the Legion on the Boulevard.
He says it’s important to thank workers for all they do in what he calls one of the most challenging environments he’s seen in a long time.
McCormick Stresses Activism in Labour Movement
The Federation of Labour is celebrating Labour Day today.
President Jessica McCormick says it’s a time to celebrate the progress made by the labour movement and thank workers for what contribute to the workplace and life in general.
It’s also a day for activism says McCormick.
“We still got a long way to go on many fronts” says McCormick.
