The minister responsible says a significant transformation to the education system is underway in the province.
The Department of Education is currently in the process of absorbing the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, a process that should finish at the end of the year.
As students are set to return tomorrow, Krista Lynn Howell says there has been a lot of behind-the-scenes work done this summer.
She says they’ve undertaken a lot of work over the past few months and are currently evaluating curriculums, teaching and assessments for how best to provide a quality education to students.
As for the merger, Howell says there will be no impact on school life.
She says students should see no difference in the day-to-day operations and they will have a more cohesive process on the government side.
