The Divisional Head of Orthopaedics with NL Health Services believes the new program at Carbonear General will have a “significant impact” for those waiting to get joint replacements.
Government is expanding its travelling orthopaedics program to Trinity-Conception with the hope that it will eventually have the capacity of doing 300 or more surgeries per year.
As Dr. Will Moores explains, that will help cut into the current wait list which has about 2,150 names on it in the eastern region alone.
He says the addition of 300 procedures is not insignificant, though it is not a problem that can be fixed in a single year.
