Last week the Chief Medical Officer of Health confirmed an increase in Covid 19 cases in the province—one that’s not unexpected and mirrors an uptick in the rest of the country.
Dr. Peter Daley, an Infectious Diseases Physician and an Associate Professor of Medicine at MUN, is seeking patients with COVID in Newfoundland and Labrador to join the CanTREAT COVID trial.
There is a medicine that treats COVID—known as Paxlovid—and studies into its effectiveness are underway as it relates to the Omicron wave. Dr. Daley says they don’t know if the drug is still helpful to patients with the virus.
People will be paid for the data on their symptoms whether they received treatment or not.
People interested in participating in the trial don’t actually have to present themselves in person. They can enter their data through the website for a period of 36 weeks.
