A Deer Lake man accused of murder will remain behind bars for at least another three weeks.
That should give him time to retain a lawyer and prepare a plan for possible release on bail.
Thirty-three-year-old Justin Paul Campbell is charged with first-degree murder and stealing more than $5,000 from the victim, 69-year-old Eva Banfield.
She was found dead in her home late last week, with Campbell arrested Friday afternoon.
Police have said the two were related, but have not confirmed how.
Campbell made his second court appearance yesterday, reportedly telling grieving relatives he was sorry as he was led back to jail.
It’s alleged the theft and murder occurred in Deer Lake between August 30 and September 7.
Campbell’s next court date is set for October 3.
