The town of Fleur de Lys is reeling after a fishing vessel capsized off the coast yesterday, sending all four men aboard into the water.
RCMP confirm two people are dead, one was rescued and another is missing after the open boat, out of Fleur de Lys, went down.
The men were involved in the cod fishery.
The Coast Guard is involved in search effort for the missing crew member.
The Mayor of Fleur de Lys, Bob Traverse says the tragedy comes at what has already been a difficult time in the town.
“In the past week we’ve lost three of our residents through natural causes,” says Traverse, with one funeral taking place today. “This on top of it, is really, really, really sad now.”
Traverse says the town hall is open to anyone who wants to drop in.
He’s inviting residents to come and sit, “and we’re prepping food and whatnot (for) anyone who wants to talk or chat or a shoulder to cry on.”
