Search and Rescue volunteers from across the province and the country are gathering in St. John’s for SARScene 2023.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Search and Rescue Association is hosting this year’s event, which began this morning with the Search and Rescue Games at Sunshine Rotary Park in Portugal Cove-St. Phillips.
Association President Harry Blackmore says a number of sessions are planned with teams being divided into air, land and water search and rescue.
Among the land sessions include case studies and the inquiry into ground search and rescue stemming from the death of 14-year-old Burton Winters.
Sessions include a presentation by the Deputy Chief of the RNC, Stephanie Legace, on the search for Ann-Marie Shirran, and James Igloliorte on the Ground Search and Rescue Inquiry.
