A man who has admitted to his role in a major gun trafficking network had his sentencing hearing postponed this morning.
Forty-two-year-old Scott Waterman was arrested in the spring of last year, and charged with 141 offences in what the RNC called the largest and most concerning bust of its kind in the province.
It involved the seizure of more than a hundred different types of guns and other weapons—some of them manufactured with 3D printers—at homes in Torbay, Flatrock and Pouch Cove.
In April, Waterman pleaded guilty after the charges were reduced from 141—one for almost every weapon that was seized—down to seven.
The sentencing phase was set for today, but court was told the Crown is still working on a proposed sentence, which is taking some time given the sheer volume and nature of the file.
Waterman, who remains free on bail, is also dealing with some health issues, according to his lawyer, Erin Breen.
With that, the court granted the Crown’s application to postpone sentencing until the case is called again on October 6.
