The real story of a Newfoundland sailor and his British war bride haunted by their Second World War experiences is now available on store shelves.
Love & War is the true story of William and Edith Lundrigan, the parents of author Robert Lundrigan.
The couple had a whirlwind romance, tying the knot in England before coming back to Newfoundland after the war and settling in Lundrigan’s native Upper Island Cove.
Robert says the book explores the impact of war on their lives, something he says he didn’t fully appreciate until he was much older.
He believes he wrote it as a way to figure out some lingering questions about the impact of war and some of what we now know as PTSD. While writing the book he realized the answers were already there.
Lundrigan is hosting a book launch this afternoon at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 22 in Upper Island Cove between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
