We have a significant development on the senior hockey front today.
The Deer Lake Red Wings are pulling out of the West Coast Senior Hockey League and instead will be part of a Central-West Senior Hockey League.
The west coast league resumed operations last winter with a handful of games plus playoffs, but the organization had only three teams: Deer Lake, Corner Brook and Port aux Basques.
League President Andy Brake calls it disappointing but says they will be doing everything in their power to continue offering senior hockey to fans in western Newfoundland.
