The province has announced the expansion of the Employment Stability Pilot for those in receipt of income support.
The claw-back of benefits was identified as a barrier to keeping people in the workforce or seeking a job opportunity.
Those on income support who begin a new job, or continue to work, can now keep more of their earnings.
The province has announced that a new earnings exemption formula will allow people to keep more of their earnings, and employment continuation bonuses will also be provided.
A $250 bonus will be paid at six months, $500 at one year, and $1,000 at two years.
The announcement was made today by the Paul Pike, the Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, the CEO of Stella’s Circle, Laura Winters and the Executive Director of Choices for Youth, Sheldon Pollett.
