The Progressive Conservative Leadership race is heating up, with all three candidates jockeying to become the next party head this fall.
The three candidates are Terra Nova MHA Lloyd Parrott, Stephenville Port au Port MHA Tony Wakeham, and former PC Party President Eugene Manning.
They all stated their case ahead of the party’s AGM on October 14.
Parrott says he is not only this province’s right choice, but its only choice. He says this province needs a leader to put Newfoundlanders and Labradorians first, and he is right for the job.
Manning explains that doing things the same way and expecting a different result is foolhardy. He says his background allows him to see the challenges of the people and that, at times, government gets too comfortable.
Wakeham says the province needs better decision making on issues like health care and education, economy and affordability, and that his proven record of leadership, and background in financial management and business, makes him well equipped to get things done.
All three candidates highlighted the rising cost of living as the biggest issue for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians at the present moment.
