A special air quality statement has been issued for most of the province due to wildfire smoke moving in from the west.
The advisory is expected to be in place until Thursday or longer, with smoke being the most persistent in central, western and northern Newfoundland.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil explains that there’s a big area of high pressure parked over Quebec right now, and smoke from several sources is coming around the north side of that system.
He says the smoke is coming from as far west as the prairies and the Northwest Territories, as well as Quebec.
