A tiny Quebec town with many strong ties to this province is the latest community to be left reeling by a marine tragedy.
The Canadian Coast Guard confirmed yesterday that the Silver Condor out of Blanc Sablon sank early yesterday morning about 20 nautical miles off La Tabatiere, Quebec, claiming the lives of three of the boat’s six-man crew. Three others were taken to hospital.
Coast Guard officials in Quebec say a distress signal from the vessel’s SARSAT beacon was received at 2:39 yesterday morning.
The Canadian Coast Guard Ship the Cape Edensaw and a DND Cormorant were sent to participate in the search, joined by the Coast Guard auxiliary vessel the Carly M Paige along with other local boats.
