The province is opening a new emergency shelter and warming centre in the capital city.
The Safe Haven Shelter, operated through a partnership of NL Housing and the Anglican Church of the Good Samaritan, is a 40-bed emergency shelter with an additional 30 person warming shelter in the winter months.
The overnight shelter will be open between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. and specifically serve men. It will be managed across two large rooms with dedicated staff and security on site. During the day people will have access to case managers and housing support staff.
The shelter will receive $2 million from the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation for operations.
