The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to two assaults in the metro region overnight.
Around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of an assault in progress on Freshwater Road in St. John’s.
A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault and released on conditions with a later court date.
Then, shortly before 2 a.m. this morning, officers responded to another report of an ongoing assault, this time at a home in Mount Pearl.
When officers arrived on the scene a woman was being treated by ambulance for serious but none life threatening injuries.
The male suspect was known by the victim, but had fled the area before police arrived. The investigation continues.
