Opposition Leader David Brazil says a recent Abacus Data poll that shows 77 per cent of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians asked are living paycheque to paycheque, is evidence of what it calls “massive Liberal failure” when it comes to tackling the cost of living crisis.
Brazil says the cost of living is out of control, thanks to continued tax increases by both the provincial and federal governments.
Brazil points to the carbon tax, fuel surcharges, and the sugar tax among the culprits.
He says reducing the tax burden by cancelling the carbon and sugar taxes, and working with local food producers to provide local healthy and affordable food options must be the only priority for both the federal and provincial governments.
