The Fluvarium is in the process of converting a portion of its building into a child care centre to accommodate up to 55 children thanks to access to joint funding formally announced today.
The federal and provincial governments have announced $7.5 million in funding to support infrastructure and renovations to regulated child care operations to increase the availability of child care by up to 750 spaces.
The funding will also be used to hire a project manager to oversee not-for-profit child care projects and increase wages for developmental workers.
The funding is part of the $306 million previously announced through the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.
