The Happy Valley-Goose Bay SPCA is making an urgent plea for donations as the financial strain of the operation may soon force them to close their doors.
Vice-President Bonnie Learning, who is speaking with the various levels of government to get funding, says the need is significant.
She says last year their total operating cost was up around $430,000, so they will be asking for some significant funding from government.
If the SPCA is forced to close its doors, Learning says it will leave a significant void in Labrador.
She describes the SPCA as the access point for all animals in Labrador, noting that they also help owners with services as well.
