The Commissioners of the Inquiry Respecting the Treatment, Experiences and Outcomes of Innu in the Child Protection System is recognizing and honouring Orange Shirt Day today.
The commissioners say they recognize the direct and intergenerational impacts that colonization, forced settlement, relocation and racism have caused on the Innu. They hope that listening to and learning from Innu who are sharing their stories, knowledge and experience will help in the healing process, along with the appropriate supports.
