From candy boilers to fence builders and blood pudding makers, the traditional skills of those in Tilting, Fogo Island are identified in a new report.
The Tilting Recreation and Cultural Society (TRACS) and Heritage NL started the report in 2022 in an aim to highlight traditional skill holders in the area.
The research has been released in a new online publication by Heritage NL, with executive director Dale Jarvis sharing that the organization wanted to find “hidden gems”.
He says they found storytellers, musicians, carvers, lobstermen, keepers of beer plants and experts on local lore, all of whom are represented in the study.
