The city of St. John’s is seeking public feedback on plans to convert two tennis courts in Cowan Heights into six pickleball courts.
The city says pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in North America and is growing in popularity in the capital city as well.
Ward 3 councilor Jamie Korab says the city doesn’t have any dedicated outdoor pickleball courts available and they’re looking at the site behind St. Matthew’s Elementary for six new courts.
The site provides protection from the wind and they want to hear from area residents who currently use the courts, as well as those with an interest in pickleball.
Feedback is being accepted until October 13th. Residents will receive information on the proposal through the mail.
