The demand for skilled trades is growing and the Carpenter Millwright College is doing what it can to train workers to fill the need.
Training Director Shawn Skinner says industrial work sites in the province are experiencing a shortage of skilled workers.
A number of major projects are in the planning stage or on the horizon, meaning the demand will only increase.
“We need more millwrights, or industrial mechanics as you call them,” says Skinner. “We need more welders, and with the projection of the… wind projects, the hydrogen projects, we anticipate there will be (a) shortage of carpenters, scaffolders and millwrights in all areas.”
