The Kids Eat Smart Foundation has officially kicked off Kids Eat Smart Week.
Foundation representatives and government officials kicked the week off in front of those who benefit from the program—an energetic group of children at East Point Elementary.
Government officials including Premier Andrew Furey and St. John’s councillor Jamie Korab talked with the kids about the importance of the initiative and having a nutritious breakfast.
The event included the presentation of a cheque for $25,000 from TD Bank in support of the annual province-wide walk for breakfast, happening tomorrow.
Board Chair Katherine Fagner says the program has a huge impact in schools across the province, and the week is an opportunity to celebrate the work that is being done.
The foundation operates 276 Kids Eat Smart Clubs province-wide, serving healthy meals to 40,000 students daily.
