NAPE is not surprised by a recent AG report raising questions about staffing and oversight in the Office of the High Sheriff.
NAPE President Jerry Earle says many of the items raised by the AG are ones they’re already familiar with based on labour relations issues they’ve been dealing with over the years.
Earle says Sheriff’s officers don’t get the recognition they deserve for critically important and highly stressful jobs. He says retention is a major problem.
He says the report quotes a 200 per cent turnover during the audit period, “so you can imagine the disruption,,, if there’s a continuous turnover of staff.”
