The Homecare Association of Newfoundland and Labrador says recent rate increases implemented by the provincial government for home support agencies are badly needed.
Government is providing nearly $8 million to support rate increases for agencies that assist children, adults, and seniors with disabilities who require personal and behavioural assistance.
Elizabeth Jenkins, President of the Home Care Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, says operating a homecare agency in the province is challenging at the best of times.
Jenkins says the new rates will allow them to look at their level of care which is going to be a very labour intensive process and will require extra admin in their offices.
