Liberal MP Ken McDonald has once again drawn attention in the House of Commons by voting against his caucus colleagues.
McDonald stood in support of the Conservative Party’s motion to repeal all carbon taxes, drawing sustained applause from the Opposition.
McDonald did the same a few months’ back and says he didn’t want to flip-flop on the issue. He says the impact of rising fuel prices is having a dramatic impact on just about every aspect of life.
“I wanted to support the people in my Riding who are having a difficult time trying to buy groceries, heat their homes (and) put gas in their vehicles.” He says he also wanted to stand with Premier Andrew Furey in his call for the carbon tax to be paused.
McDonald says he’s already received huge public support for his stand.
