Now almost a month into the new school year and well into the swing of things, many programs are back up and running including Big Brothers Big Sisters In-School Mentoring Program.
Executive Director Kelly Leach says it’s easy to become a volunteer with that particular program. All it takes is about an hour a week during lunch hour to participate with a child.
“It’s non-Academic activities such as maybe having lunch, doing something in the gym, maybe play board game…being somebody that the child can speak with,” says Leach.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is always looking for volunteers. They receive no core funding from government, and get most of their funding through several fundraisers throughout the year.
