The province has stepped up their efforts to recruit internationally educated nurses.
Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services has recruited over 200 internationally-educated nurses since 2022, with more than 600 currently being recruited through ongoing initiatives.
Among them, 59 of those 200 nurses have registered nurse credentials, 17 have licensed practical nurse credentials, and 37 others are in the process of receiving their RN designation.
Debbie Molloy, VP for Human Resources with NL Health Services, says their ongoing work for the recruitment and retention of health-care professionals is starting to help with stability in health-care facilities, and is indicative of the whole system working together.
