The Canadian Council of Tourism Ministers are meeting in the capital city this week to discuss issues of mutual concern.
Provincial Tourism Minister Steve Crocker is the new co-chair of the group and is play host to this week’s meeting starting today.
Federal Minister Soraya Martinez Ferrada is in St. John’s for the first time since taking over the portfolio.
Ferrada will also hold a roundtable with local tourism operators and visit some of the city’s top attractions including Signal Hill, Cape Spear and Quidi Vidi Village.
Ferrada calls the significant growth in tourism in this province in recent years is a major success story and a model for the country.
