This is the PC Leader David Brazil’s last hurrah, as the party chooses a new leader this evening.
Brazil has served as leader of the official Opposition since Ches Crosbie stepped down in March of 2021. He previously led the party in an interim role in 2018 while chosen leader Ches Crosbie ran for a seat in the provincial legislature.
Brazil announced his intention to step down as leader earlier this year after suffering a massive heart attack one year ago.
Brazil, who was first elected to the House of Assembly as the MHA for Conception Bay East-Bell Island in 2010, says he intends to stay on as the PC member for the district.
He thanked the people of the province, his constituents, staff, and the media for allowing him the opportunity to speak on behalf of the party and offer alternatives to government decisions and policy.
Party faithful are choosing Brazil’s successor this evening. Three hopefuls are in the running: Tony Wakeham, Lloyd Parrott and Eugene Manning.
VOCM News is following the party leadership decision and will have the results as they become available.
