The St. John’s Francophone Association is partnering with the St. John’s Tool Library for the city’s very first Zero Waste Festival taking place this weekend.
Co-chair of the Zero Waste Festival Organizing Committee, Etienne Vuillaume says it’s something they started planning about six months ago and ended up getting some help from the Multi Materials Stewardship Board.
Vuillaume says it’s not about educating the public, because many people already know what to do, he says it’s about reminding people about some of the changes needed to reduce waste.
Things like bringing your own cup or plate, instead of using items that you will only throw away. “It’s just to show people what we can do in our daily lives.”
A number of information booths will be set up and speakers including the creator of a Trash Spotter app who will join the festival virtually from France.
The family-friendly festival is set for Sunday, October 15th in the gym of Ecole des Grands Vents on Ridge Road in St. John’s.
