A Memorial prof originally from Palestine says atrocities reportedly carried out by Hamas in Israel are reprehensible and unacceptable.
But Dr. Majed Khraishi insists both sides are guilty of war crimes in recent days and dating back decades.
Hundreds of Hamas militants launched a merciless, surprise attack from Gaza into Israel at the break of dawn last Saturday.
They murdered hundreds, young and old, in their homes, cars, and at a music festival, and took dozens of hostages back to Gaza.
Israel is widely expected to begin a ground offensive in the coming days, which could drag other states into the conflict.
Khraishi says that wouldn’t be good for anyone.
“Unfortunately, nobody knows how this will end. You start the fire, you don’t know how to extinguish it, and the possibility of extending this across the Middle East is there.”
Khraishi has lived in the province for decades, raising his family and working as a medical doctor and clinical prof at MUN.
In 2018, he was arrested on a ship that was trying to deliver medical aid to the Gaza Strip during a blockade of the region.
