Premier Andrew Furey has asked the federal government to put a pause on the carbon tax at a time when people are already struggling under the rising cost of living.
Liberal MP Ken McDonald last week stood in the House of Commons in support of a Conservative motion to repeal the tax.
Small believes more Liberal MPs may have a chance to support the people of Newfoundland and Labrador in the coming days and weeks.
He says the carbon tax on home heating fuel will be slightly more than 20 cents a litre.
He told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that households are already struggling and many haven’t had to fill up their oil tanks yet. “It is a big deal” he says.
