The province’s housing crunch was front and centre when Question Period opened on the first day of the fall sitting of the House of Assembly.
Question after question from the Opposition parties targeted government on its housing strategy, but it was during an exchange between NDP Leader Jim Dinn and Justice and Public Safety Minister John Hogan when things got heated.
The NDP Leader asked the Premier for a timeline on when people living in emergency shelters and those living in tents across from Confederation Building can expect permanent housing. Justice Minister John Hogan stood, firing back at Dinn and said that when speaking with the people in tent city, he was told they had already presented a list of people with immediate needs to Dinn. “That list didn’t make it across the street,” Hogan said, accusing Dinn of keeping it to himself.
Dinn shouted back over the noise.
“Those demands were sent to the Minister of Seniors Children and Social Development, in writing.”
