A labour advocate from this province has been elected as the president of the Federal NDP.
Mary Shortall was chosen by her peers as the new president of the federal New Democratic Party.
Shortall was named as special advisor to the party back in April and ran in the riding of St. John’s East in the last federal election.
She also previously served for nearly a decade as the president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour.
